Great Southern Rail announced the South Australian Government has decided to pull its financial assistance for 'The Overland' train service between Adelaide and Melbourne.

The Melbourne to Adelaide trek began as the Adelaide Express in 1887 as "Australia's first inter-capital passenger train", before The Overland name was adopted in 1926.
