Residents east of Atlanta received new warnings to seek shelter as winds could blow a lingering chemical cloud over their areas.

Residents near Atlanta were asked again to shelter in place if a chemical cloud moved over their neighborhood as plumes from a chemical plant fire continued to shift overnight.

A small fire on the plant’s roof was initially contained but reignited Sunday afternoon, authorities said. More than 90,000 residents east of Atlanta were told to keep sheltering in place Monday a day after a chemical plant fire sent a massive plume of dark smoke high into the sky that could been seen for miles.

A chemical plant fire southeast of Atlanta is still causing trouble two days later. Authorities on Tuesday alerted residents of the city's eastern suburbs to shelter in place again if a chemical cloud moves over their neighborhood.

Residents east of Atlanta were again warned Tuesday to take shelter where they are if shifting winds push the still-billowing chemical cloud from a chlorine factory fire over their neighborhood. A shelter-in-place order had just ended Monday evening for Rockdale County,

Atlanta's fire department said it was testing for the presence of chemicals including chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon monoxide.
