Virat Kohli scored just 6 and 17 in his two innings of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai to continue his lean patch this year. Former India coach Ravi Shastri has advised him to use his feet more against spinners and to find a solution to end his poor run of form.

Kohli was wrongly given out LBW in the second innings after replays showed that the ball had kissed his bat before hitting his pad. However, Kohli decided not to go for a review, despite batting partner Shubman Gill seemingly asking him to go for it.

Talking in commentary during India’s second innings against Bangladesh, Ravi Shastri pointed out that the sweep can be a critical weapon for Kohli in dealing with off-spin. He may have to start looking out for the ones where he can step forward and slog it over deep square leg or maybe in the gap between the square leg and the mid-wicket.
