Around 60 employees lost their jobs at the IRS campus in Kansas City Thursday, according to leaders of the National Treasury Employees Union Local Chapter 66. Union president Shannon Ellis said exact numbers are still being determined,

The employees were terminated in a move that will cripple an agency that has been understaffed and underfunded for years, the union leader said.

At least 100 IRS employees were laid off on Thursday and the local union representing these workers anticipates more layoffs, possibly up to 1,000.
