Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse was fired as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency the same week the Air Force's top general hastily retired.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired Lt Gen Jeffrey Kruse, head of the Defence Intelligence Agency, citing a “loss of confidence.” Kruse is the latest senior officer removed in a broader shake-up of national security leadership.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse, who had led the military intelligence agency since February 2024, “will no longer serve as DIA Director,” a senior Defense Official told The Post.

The ouster is just the latest example of the Trump administration shooting the messenger. After the Bureau of Labor Statistics issued a troubling July jobs report, the president fired BLS chief Erika McEntarfer, appointing in her place a MAGA partisan who just so happened to have been at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

In a statement, Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, called it "unsurprising" that Kruse would step down after challenging the president's narrative on the bombing.
