The Worlds II update expands the scale of Hello Games’ already-sprawling space sim with deeper oceans and gas giants.

No Man's Sky is back with Worlds Part II, expanding the universe in new ways as only games can. Hello Games, the studio behind No Man's Sky, has announced the release of its newest iteration and the billions of stars and trillions of planets added to its universe.

The new update expands the existing gallery; in a news release, managing director Sean Murray said that there are “billions of new solar systems and trillions of new planets” that contain new biomes, new terrain, gas giants, and much more variety.

To tie all of the new goodies together, No Man's Sky is bringing a new lighting system with the Worlds Part 2 update. This adds an ethereal quality to parts of the game, especially around the water. Any body of water accurately reflects what goes on in the skybox, making sunsets or starry nights more romantic.

Now in its ninth year, the overwhelmingly expansive sci-fi survival sim No Man’s Sky is transforming yet again. Another massive overhaul to the look and feel of its planets and solar systems has arrived in the form of the new Worlds Part II update.

Despite No Man's Sky having just released a gargantuan update in its ninth year, Hello Games still says it's "extremely busy" working on its new multiplayer open-world survival RPG Light No Fire. Hello Games founder Sean Murray revealed the contents of the latest No Man's Sky update in a new blog post.
