A China-linked breach tied to the compromise of BeyondTrust’s remote support tool has reportedly led to the breach of multiple offices within the U.S. Treasury Department.

The hacker was able to remotely access certain Treasury workstations and “certain unclassified documents maintained by those users,” the department said.

Chinese state-sponsored hackers breached the Treasury Department's computer security guardrails this month, according to a letter to lawmakers that Treasury officials provided to Reuters.
