The musician and songwriter Terry Reid has passed away at the age of 75. He had been battling cancer for a long time before his death. His fans raised more than $46,000 on GoFundMe to support him.

Reid released his solo debut album, "Bang, Bang You're Terry Reid," in 1968 and quickly followed it up with his self-titled sophomore album in 1969. The pop-rock record featured the Donovan-penned track "Superlungs My Supergirl," which gave Reid his musical moniker "Superlungs."

Terry Reid, the British musician who famously turned down offers to join Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, has died. He was 75. Reid's U.K. publicist confirmed the news to the The Guardian on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and said that the musician was undergoing treatment for cancer in recent months.
