A horrifying mishap at Orlando’s holiday drone show that severely injured a boy is grounding New Year’s Eve displays from Texas to New York City and sparking further scrutiny into what went wrong.

The Central Park drone show on New Year's Eve has been canceled after a drone fell and severely injured a boy at a similar event in Florida.

With Dec. 31 less than a week away, the Central Park show could not go on, according to New York Road Runners, the group that organizes the still-happening Midnight Run through the park on New Year’s Eve. The drone show, like the fireworks most years, was meant to accompany the run.
