Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is one of the best hitters in baseball year after year, generating offense that few can match, even though his pitching has been sidelined due to Tommy John surgery.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 26-14 to start the season. They won the World Series last season without Shohei Ohtani ever throwing a pitch, and he still has not pitched this year.

With only a couple exceptions mixed in, the Los Angeles Dodgers have largely kept Shohei Ohtani on a schedule of throwing a light bullpen session every Wednesday and fuller work off the mound on Saturdays.
