A 500-year-old archaeological artefact in Peru, known as the 12-Angle Stone, was damaged in an attack carried out by a man with a hammer, authorities have said.

The emblematic Twelve-Angled Stone, located on Hatunrumiyoc Passage, just one block from <a href=" Plaza Mayor (Main Square), suffered a <a href=" attack in the early hours of Tuesday, after being struck with a metal object by an individual identified as Gabriel Mariano Roysi Malanio.

On Tuesday, a Peruvian who had one glass too many caused damage to the famous 12-sided stone in Cuzco with a hammer. The 30-year-old Peruvian went on such a violent rampage that the piece of Inca heritage suffered irreparable damage.
