Smoke from the more than 700 wildfires burning in Canada is continuing to blanket parts of the Midwest for a final day.
Even if we don’t see flames where we live, across much of the U.S. and Canada, in any given year, we are likely to see smoke and breathe polluted air from fires more than a thousand miles away.
This is the second-most severe wildfire season in Canadian history, after 2023, with 15 million acres burned so far.
