Ethiopian Icon Debebe Eshetu Laid to Rest

The legendary Ethiopian artist Debebe Eshetu was laid to rest this afternoon at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa.

Addis Ababa (which means “new flower” in Amharic) was founded in 1886, when the emperor’s wife gazed down from the surrounding hilltops upon the hot springs on the valley floor.
