No, definitely not. I don't recommend bringing very young kids. Safety on the boat and during landing would be a concern. Also there isn't much there for them on the island. Go when your kids are 10+. Better idea might be a half-day in Malahide Castle if the weather is good. Lovely grassy grounds to stroll and run around, foresty park, big playground, a spacious cafe-restaurant and if you wish you can do a tour of the castle or maybe a 30-minute "choo choo train" ride tour?

The word "easy" is relative! I don't have the best of balance and the sea was relatively calm where the stairs are so it was easy. There was someone was ahead of me to take my hand as I stepped off the boat and someone behind me for reassurance in case I missed my step. The only place I was a wee bit shaky was coming down the steps to the boat as there is no banister :)
