Dolmabahce Palace was built in the mid-19th century. Its construction cost vast amounts of money and practically sent the state broke. It's a beautiful building nevertheless and is worth visiting.Full review by Dimitris L

You absolutely can do it on your own. You just walk into the ticket office, which is right on the property, then queue to get into the inner courtyard area and there's another booth where you can get the audio sets, which are free, and you do not have to lose your place in the queue. No pre-reservation required unless you are planning on going at a particularly busy time. The tickets are fairly expensive.
